Northern Universities Mathematics Pedagogy Network (NUMPeN)

What will I gain from participating?

 The network aims to enable attendees to:

• Network in-person with other colleagues from geographically local universities who share an interest in the scholarship of mathematics education.

• Keep up-to-date with examples of best practice from leading HE institutions, in order to be able to later share this within their own departments. 

• Share examples of local practice with other members, and to identify areas for improvement within each department. 

• Develop formal and informal mentoring and professional support relationships. 

• Develop your own teaching practice by learning about new educational technology and curriculum reform that is being introduced at various different Universities.

• Colleagues on non-permanent contracts will gain the opportunity to meet and discuss informally with more senior peers, helping to create contacts as they establish their careers.

What are the long term goals of the network?

 Our hope is that the NUMPeN Inaugural meeting will provide the template for an on-going series of annual events, hosted by Northern UK Universities, allowing colleagues across the region to keep in touch.  This network will give colleagues opportunities to discuss ongoing projects, initiate collaborations, share career experiences, and establish mentorship opportunities.
